Across public safety, the pressure to hire, train, and retain telecommunicators has never been higher. New hires must develop complex decision-making skills quickly, while experienced staff are expected to perform flawlessly under pressure. Many agencies are turning to simulation technology to help bridge that gap. But not all simulations are created equal. In too many cases, “simulation” simply means an AI voice reading a scenario to a trainee. While that may sound realistic, realism alone does not produce competence.
