GovWorx Connects 9-1-1 and ePCR Data for Comprehensive Incident Review and CQI
CommsCoach and MedAssist bring call, CAD, dispatch and ePCR data together to evaluate the full pre-hospital response.
GovWorx today announced MedAssist, a new solution that brings automated quality review and data analysis to ePCRs. MedAssist complements the CommsCoach ECC Performance Platform by connecting EMS data with 9-1-1 call, CAD and dispatch information. Together, they provide a comprehensive view of the response, from the first call through EMS patient care, giving emergency communications and EMS leaders stronger insight to support incident review and continuous quality improvement.
Emergency response information is often reviewed in separate systems. A 9-1-1 center may evaluate the initial call, CAD and dispatch activity, while an EMS agency reviews the electronic patient care report. Each record provides important information, but neither shows the complete response or how each stage of the response affected the next. By connecting CommsCoach and MedAssist data, agencies can see how information and decisions are carried from one stage to the next.
For EMS agencies new to GovWorx, MedAssist automatically reviews and performs QA on patient care reports against protocols, standards and billing requirements, helping teams identify missing or incomplete documentation that could delay or prevent reimbursement. It also evaluates protocol adherence and performance across the organization, while allowing leaders to ask questions in plain language and receive immediate answers from their EMS data.
For agencies already using CommsCoach, MedAssist adds EMS context to the call and dispatch data already available in the platform. Leaders can connect what the caller reported, how the call was triaged, the information provided to responding crews and what clinicians found and documented on scene.
“A patient care report tells an important part of the story, but the response began well before the crew arrived,” said Scott MacDonald, CEO of GovWorx. “When agencies can connect the original call, dispatch decisions and patient care documentation, they have a clearer basis for understanding the entire incident and deciding where improvement can make the greatest difference in emergency medical outcomes.”
The combined CommsCoach and MedAssist data supports incident review while also making broader analysis possible. Leaders can examine patterns across calls, dispatch activity and patient care records to better understand performance, resource use, protocol application and opportunities for improvement.
“This is more than adding another data source,” MacDonald said. “It gives emergency communications and EMS teams shared evidence they can use to learn from the same response, improve the handoff between each stage and strengthen the service they provide together.”
